The Expectation

This week was very unproductive, since the movie which was planned to upload was delayed which was about layups. The reason behind this was that we started to record more gameplay than actually editing our project. But looking through the camera roll most of the videos were dim or too dark. Which we did over again in the blue gym. Although after a few minutes we had everything situated and could start editing. And that's where the problem started we got a bit lazy which led us to record the next episode, which is teaching the view about techniques, to help them shoot better. We also have completed ½ of the editing for the how to Layup, soon to drop, sometime near next week.

One of the reasons why I'm so excited over this is, because I want to teach more kids about the proper ways of shooting. Why? Because when I was a little kid I never could shoot properly. Until 6th grade, when Mr. Campbell kept making us work harder on our shot, and now I can shoot like the pros. But the reason why I had a poor jump shot, was because no one told me it was improper. Until Mr. Campbell, which ultimately paid off, and now I want to share this to kids like myself struggling to do so. By making videos about this, I hope we can get more people to watch this and consider trying our techniques. Because ultimately this is for people who want to learn, practice and do better. And the fundamental and basics which are being shown in our YouTube channel, is to try making  kids even better at Basketball who may be struggling or need advice.

One of the many things we have done, is making a graphic organizer for our project. This is to help us organize what steps we need to take in order to be successful. Some examples is that one week will be dedicated for, editing, the next week, filming, and etc. But the main reason for this is to be prepared for our presentation ( Ted Talk.) This link is to a Ted talk I felt motivated about. A Ted talk is basically a  public speaking announcement. Where individuals make a presentation and present it. So, this graphic organization will help me and my colleagues into making  the project and presenting it.

Looking forward to next week we expect to,

~ Edit and finish the how to Layup video

~ Begin recording more shooting video

~ Try to post 2 more video until the Ted Talk

~ Ted Talk preparation

This is what we expect to do for next week and the weeks afterward. This is the checklist and will make sure we have at least 1-2 videos until the Ted talk.

The Process

So far we have made great process. We have a YouTube channel up and running. This week was a calm and relaxing week with only recording. But we still have to finish our editing on video 2 other than that it's fine. Although sometimes I get frustrated by the deadline and the presentation, because I want it to be the best. And I believe we can do that, as the days move along we all feel more comfortable and confident on our topic and what we want to do.

One of the reasons why we were pulled into this project was,
Trying to make other better. When I was a kid I never knew about what, drill, to do. so ever since then I want others to learn from me and my friends on drills that can help you improve. The other reason was that we enjoyed playing, so we chose the topic But I really want others to get better and improve their techniques.

Looking forward I think we can improve footage quality. As well, as being more serious about our blog post. Because I feel like we goof off too much. So overall I think we can make more progress and do more but I would say we are okay so far.

Blog post 3

BLOG POST # 3

In Media Lits this weeks, we started to experiment with the content in our footage we had captured. So far, we indeed do have as much content to make 2 videos. How? Because of the amount of time we had spent working on the footage. We filmed a video about dribbling last week teaching the view the basics in dribbling. Such things include left hand and right hand dribbling. As well,as crossovers, combo moves and the advanced dribbling. We also filmed the how-to layups, but decided to do it again as we feel like moving into quality over quantity. So one of our goals is about 1 video every 2 weeks. But this may change as well over the course of this project. This week our experiment was to do as much editing as we can, and we absolutely did as we edited, doing voice overs and adding music. Overall I think we could’ve done better as I kind of feel disappointed from the camera work in our videos, as the quality was not necessarily good. But we still published it as a hope of learning from our mistakes and the procrastination of having a video done.

As we dig more into this process i I think us as a group will start enjoying it more. But so far I feel passive and pretty good about Media and our project. We also want to be a more efficient as a team, as this week during editing our recording and slides messed up, overlapping. Causing us to record again, which made me very upset. One of the things I’ve noticed was when Ram records the camera begins to shake. So we might actually need the tripod after all. We also need to change the name of the Youtube channel as Ayham uploaded it to a private account, which needs a name change which we can do.

Looking forward we expect to make higher quality videos which we can make the viewer engaged throughout. As well, as a more concentrated mindset when working throughout. Other than that I think we are making good progress.

Blog post #2

This week in Media Literacy,we have finally started with recording our project.Although I think we might not have a fluent understanding of the obstacles that are in the way.One of them is finding time to record our lines. Why? Because we will upload videos into I-Movie,and do a voice over so that the final product has a professional and fluent understanding. As we do not want any sounds from the gym to distract from the skill being taught. But that’s the only concern along with a perturbation of the quality being represented.Nevertheless we have a whole lot of footage which I am delighted of.We havedone one video which is teaching the view of dribbling, but all it needs is editing.Along with a Layup how-to,which is primarily done. And that’s what we have accomplished this week.Along with a understanding of what we need to do and how to do it.But today,we discovered most of the footage in the videos were shaky.Since we did not have a tripod. This might be a problem but we think it’s not a drastic problem to go back and redo the videos.ut looking forward will, indeed keep in mind the suggestion.

Here is a picture of a boy dribbling, since the topic of this week was dribbling.

Nevertheless,we have been in fact doing research and started watching videos. One of the inspirations we got was from a Youtube chanel Kick Genius.

A Youtube channel dedicated to Basketball, this pushed us to make more and taught us how to entertain the viewer throughout. We all were stunned by how high in quality and depth they have there camers places,as well as the different views. This is how we hope to have in our final product.

We hope by next time,we have one video uploaded. We also want to finish up the second video and start to record our next one. This will hopefully go smoothly and will help us progress.
